Re: WTB Lightweight, Amazing headset. Ideas?

Since I wear glasses, I need circumaural (surround the whole ear) type headsets to wear it pain free. The ones that sit directly on my ear press the arms of my glasses painfully into my ear/head.

For on-ear type, maybe Sennheiser PC161 (or PC163D for 7.1)

Re: WTB Lightweight, Amazing headset. Ideas?

When you expand the scope of the search beyond headsets into actual headphones, the sound quality of headsets pale in comparison. However, having the mic attached to the cans is far more important than the sound quality needed to listen to spell effects and 24 other people yelling in my ear. If I we...

Re: Wii U Release date & price announced (11/18 $300/$350)

The online revolution has really killed Nintendo's best features, multiplayer. First-party titles can be enough to sustain interest in a system. Look at N64 - Super Mario 64, Ocarina, Bond, Smash. Four fucking titles was enough to make a system relevant for its tier. Sure, the playstation was overal...

value and quality
This is what I use. Sound is excellent, mic works perfectly. Definitely quality. It's not particularly "lightweight" though and I'm not sure, at $150, it's necessarily a "value," but it's definitely a good headset.

Re: Wii U Release date & price announced (11/18 $300/$350)

At least Nintendo is allowing the possibilities and putting the ball squarely in the developers' hands to innovate the next generation of gaming style. It could end up gimmicky or really cool, it'll just depend on things out of Nintendo's control, kind of. If they have enough market share to force d...

Re: In-ear headphone

Is the mic just for skyping while gaming or for another purpose? Before I got my headset, I used some random $15 plantronics desktop mic that nobody ever had issues with, something similar to this.

Re: In-ear headphone

I use Etymotic hf3 myself, and I've used some form of etymotic for years. Not an audiophile so I won't get into it, but for sure, get some Shure black olives to replace the etymotic ear sleeves as they suck and the shures are awesome.

Re: New Rig

You can do either Sandy or Ivy, but the newer architecture on Z77 (Ivy) is a bit more supportive of newer technology than its predecessor. Price points are similar. Sandy is more easily overclockable, but K series cpus from both will overclock fine with some aftermarket cooling options. As to what f...

Re: iPad

I just have the standard smart cover made by apple. It's not like a phone where it's in your pocket being juggled about, so I don't feel there's a need for the plastic face cover. That being said, if you plan on reading a lot from it, I bet those full enclosures with the handhold on the back would b...

Re: The Secret World

I wouldn't attempt to recruit people to this game, because to be honest it seems very single-player oriented so far in my travels. The game supports groups, and I can see why players might want to group up to take down particularly hard quests, but I see no need to do it like some games provide. I ...

Re: Shining Force?

We created it in Everquest, probably 2 months after release. Silver, Grillo, Exen and I were the only initial members that moved games with us. There was some guy from SoS, U-man or something, that eventually betrayed us (I think he just guild-hopped but back in those days, that was black list betra...

Man, the GTX 670 is matching and/or beating the 7970 in most benchmarks and is set to go at $400. Bye bye, ATI.

Re: Looking to upgrade the computer.

What sized monitor are you using? Running Ultra settings at 1680x1050 is different than at 1920x1080. Wow is a unique beast because of addons. You can run no-addons and ultra settings at 120 fps in a 25-man raid with a lot less than an i5-2500k but if you rock the usual set of addons that people hav...

I'm not sure of newegg's cpu return policy. assuming you haven't broken the seal, you could rma and get your money back. do you live near a microcenter by chance? also, what else do you use your computer for? the i5 vs i7 debate mostly comes down to if you use your computer for intensive non-gaming ...

Re: Looking to upgrade the computer.

How would I check those? I'm not sure you're ready for the kinds of questions you're asking. Building a computer isn't terribly difficult, but if you've never built one before, you should be doing research on that subject before you get around to asking what parts you'll need. Your basic problem is...

Re: Looking to upgrade the computer.

I would have gotten the K series, but they were sold-out and I wasn't willing to wait for so small of an upgrade. It's not a small upgrade since without the K designation, your multiplier is locked at 37 or 38 or whatever it is. The beauty of sandy- and ivy-bridge cpus is that intel finally release...
