So the next BC will be released on the PC at the end of this month. I was curious if anyone will be playing from S*F? Ranked servers with stat tracking have to be rented from DICE like before. If there's heavy interest, I might rent one for us to play on.

If anyone wants a key to the PC beta, let me know - I have one to give. First to PM gets it.

I'll be playing this on PC. I picked up the beta from preordering on Steam.

My roommate pre-ordered and got that beta access deal and I gotta say it looks really good. I managed to snag his steam info away and got into playing it when he'd let me. Its a blast. Reminds me of picking up BF1942 when it first came out.

I was looking at IGN and they rated this lower then MW2, which from what I saw in beta-form is a complete joke. This game looks way better then MW2, but to be honest I couldn't stand a pure-infantry combat based fps anymore.

I'll be picking this up....

<3 multiplayer, single player sucks... tries too hard to be MW2 and fails miserably.

I got SO bored, I ended up finding this on youtube where the guy beats the entire single player in about 4 hours:

I will be playing multiplayer though at my cousin's house as my computer isn't enough to handle multi, just single.

Sure, I could probably sprint through MW2 in 4 hours on the easiest setting too... Then again the ridiculous level load times might hamper that a little lol...

My PC name is bombardier so friends list me (if it works)!

Single player was alright to play when the servers were fucked up. I liked all the jabs at MW.

I can't play the multiplayer because my net blows, but the single player is just a watered down easy mode MW2 with no prone position and a shitty inconsistent storyline. Multiplayer might be better but I doubt it'd hold a candle to CoD

As much as I hammered single player for its faults (the same ones you mentioned and more), multi is arguably better than MW2 for its dependence on squads, teamwork, and I love the spotting feature to point out targets to your team or to gain extra points taking out targets your team spotted. They are however two different games completely... BFBC2 is along the same lines going all the way back to Tribes and onto Wolfenstein then Quake Wars as a squad/team game, while MW2 is glorified team deathmatch. Different strokes for multiplayer, but ya, single player BLOWS.

GameHavoc is running a server now, should see lots of old faces from the CS days. Details here:

I don't think we've even setup admins yet hahaha. I wouldn't worry about it, we've never been big on the "Quick kick a random so Fred can get in!" ideal.

How similar is it to Wolftenstein: Enemy Territory? This is my holy grail of online team-based shooters as I had so much fun with it over the years, and I've been wanting to find a new shooter that I like as much.

I never played Enemy Territory. Did it have tanks? If not, then there's at least one difference ;)

If you played BF2, it's basically scaled down Battlefield fare. Fewer vehicles, smaller maps, lower player limits (32 max I think for ranked rush gamemode).

Rush - 16v16, arranged in squads of 4. Attack or defend 1 or 2 points (MCOM stations) on the map, think bomb sites from CS. Attackers can arm a charge or use vehicles/weapons to outright destroy the building or MCOM. The map expands as objectives are fulfilled, so a map has like 7-8 MCOMs per round, but at the start you can only attack the first two, and then that "pushes the enemy back", and you can go deeper in the map for the next set. Your spawn point moves forward at the same time. Uses a ticket system too, you loose if you run out of tickets before all MCOMs are destroyed. Variety of vehicles in this mode, but nothing on the scale of BF1942/BF2.

Conquest is another 32 player mode but I haven't played it.

Squad DM - 16 players, 4v4v4v4. Join a squad, kill the other squads. 1 vehicle spawns, always an APC type from what I've seen. First squad to 50 kills wins.

Squad Rush - 8 Players, 4v4. Small scale Rush.

I'm still on the fence about it, personally I much prefer MW2 Domination to this right now, but I'm still giving it a chance. It feels somewhere in the middle between the larger scale BF games of the past and smaller scale games like MW2. Just, after putting days worth of play time into MW2, I feel super slow and sluggish in BC2.

Leveling up and getting perks/weapons/specs in BC2 actually matters is another thing I've noted. MW2, a level 1 can run a map if they're a good player, none of the guns or perks really convey an advantage beyond some personal preferences. BC2 has unlockable stuff that basically says "Your gun shoots straight now." I haven't managed to unlock any of those yet, unfortunately.

i agree. i like bc2 because it's something to play that isn't mw2 (though i don't hate mw2, it's just way too easy). i just don't get the same wow factor i have in previous bf games.

Yeah, all valid. I play MW2 cause I like the fast paced (and noobified) gameplay. BC2 is fun too but in a completely different way/pace.

I never played this game again after giving it a solid weekend. Just didn't like it.
