Titanfall

Post by Defac » Thu Feb 13, 2014 8:01 pm

Now that the NDA is off and beta is available to most ppl. I can say, it's awesome. Been playing it for a while and the movement and gameplay differences are so tangibly different then CoD. Can't wait till retail.

I'm drooling. I played a bit of Ghosts and you can tell the soul of IW isn't there (as well as the talent).

Definitely looks so impressively fun. Cannot wait. I was hoping for a beta, the OriginInsider account was tweeting me and I was like sweet hope I get in!

No such luck on beta invite yet.

I had fun with it the limited amount of time I played the beta as well. I'm 'meh' on it being on Origin...I don't hate it as much as everyone else seems to, but would definitely be a fan of EA just giving up and putting stuff on Steam like everyone else. Doesn't bother me, though. If it's a good game, I'll play it wherever it is.

After extended play, I feel like the game play is much too similar to Call of Duty for me. The novelty of hopping in and out of Titans lost its novelty pretty quickly for me.

I need to try out modes other then normal deathmatch I guess.

What platform is everyone going to be playing this on? (PC Here!)

I created a Titanfall channel on our mumble for launch, hopefully we can get some games going with other guildies who have it on the PC as well when it goes live.

People want next-gen, get ready for 2048x2048 or higher texture maps. That stuff eats HD space.

Game sizes are getting completely stupid because of it.

What's 50gb worth when HDs are 1TB+ now?

Enough that I still think it's stupid big for a game especially when most people are downloading it and most people still use overpriced, archaic, slow, non-fiber-optic internet connections.

Well America is the king of nor being able to have nice things. Technology advances eventually mean that minimum standards will have to changed whether it's a game or an industry. Side note I'm glad America is dealing with this Netflix bulls hit now because the rage and concern will eventually lead to some outcome.

There are box copies that will be sold retail.

Well, I haven't had that much time to play yet, but I'm having a blast with this game. Do love that feeling when you slide into your titan and shit gets real.

Ditto, I loved the really short multiplayer campaign too. Short (~10-15s) intros to each multi-map and random events (badass dropship wrecking things, rando npc titans dropping in too) which happen throughout the map which add some story and coolness. Then when you've done one side (it's random which you start on), you play the same missions from the other side and see their half of the story. Very cool system, and it doesn't detract from the multiplayer experience at all.
